COVID-19 Delivery Delays
Australia Post and other delivery providers are experiencing record parcel volumes due to increasing interest in online shopping during the COVID-19 pandemic. At the same time they also have limited capacity due to social distancing, COVID-safe requirements and a reduction in passenger flights (which also carry parcels). Unfortunately, this is leading to significant delays to normal delivery timeframes.
- Australia Post: We are seeing delays of up to 5 business days for AusPost eParcel (Express Post) and up to 10 business days for AusPost eParcel (Parcel Post). For more information please click here to visit the Australia Post website.
- Aramex (Fastway): We are seeing delays of up to 10 business days (to normal delivery times) across the Aramex network – this is especially the case for deliveries to Western Australia and Victoria. For more information please click here to visit the Aramex website.
Which shipping should I select?
Pet Chemist offers a range of shipping options that customers can select at checkout. All of the options available include tracking details which will be emailed to you once the parcel is dispatched from our warehouse.
Our shipping options include:
- Australia Post eParcel (Express Post) - generally the fastest option to most customers across Australia.
- Australia Post eParcel (Parcel Post) - a more cost effective, slower option for smaller parcels.
- Aramex Road Delivery (Flat Rate Parcel or Standard Parcel) - a more cost effective option for heavy parcels and local deliveries to the Gold Coast, Northern Rivers and southeast Queensland. Aramex cannot be delivered to AusPost parcel lockers or PO boxes.
- Startrack Premium Delivery - a premium courier delivery recommended for cold shipping deliveries. Startrack cannot be delivered to AusPost parcel lockers or PO boxes.
Processing & Dispatch Times
In-stock items ordered before 5pm on a weekday are generally dispatched the following business day, while in-stock items ordered after 5pm are generally dispatched within 48 hours. In-stock items ordered on weekends and public holidays will generally be dispatched the next business day.
Please let us know by calling us on 1300 000 738 if you need medication urgently, as we can rush through orders if required. Urgent orders for same day dispatch may involve a Priority Order Surcharge of $4.95.
Delivery time (in addition to the above processing and dispatch time) depends upon the method of delivery you select at checkout. Delivery of orders can take between 2-6 business days on average when delivering to metro areas on the east coast of Australia, while delivery to rural areas, Western Australia and the Northern Territory may take longer.
For an estimate on Australia Post delivery times, please see the following link and enter Tweed Heads, NSW 2485 as the "From Address" and enter your address as the "To Address": AusPost Delivery Estimate.
Please see the following link for delivery time estimates for Aramex: Aramex Transit Times. Please enter "Gold Coast" under "Send from" and the closest centre to you in the "Send to" field. Please note that it will take additional time if you live away from the centre selected.
If you are not offered a rate for "Aramex Road Delivery (Flat Rate Parcel)", then your location is not within the Aramex network and we do not recommend selecting Aramex as your delivery method. If you do select Aramex in this instance, then the final leg of the delivery will be made by Australia Post, which may cause delays.
For a Startrack delivery estimate, click here to visit their website and select "Calculate transit time" on the right of their website. Enter Tweed Heads, NSW 2485 as the Sender's location and "Fixed Price Premium" as the service.
How much does shipping cost?
Shipping to anywhere in Australia for small orders under 0.5kg costs $6.95 for Australia Post eParcel (Parcel Post) and between $7.10 and $8.35 for Australia Post eParcel (Express Post). For larger or heavier orders sent by Australia Post, the shipping cost is automatically calculated at checkout as it depends upon weight and where the parcel is being sent.
Shipping within the Aramex network starts at $5.61 for local deliveries on the Gold Coast and $8.44 for small parcels up to 2kg within the Aramex delivery network. The cost of shipping larger parcels within the Aramex network increases in cost for larger parcels. Once again the shipping cost for larger parcels is automatically calculated at checkout.
Free or discounted shipping with orders over $99
Pet Chemist offers free shipping on orders over $99 with:
- Australia Post eParcel (Parcel Post) on small parcels under 0.5kg Australia wide, and
- Aramex Road Delivery on parcels under 2kg within the Aramex delivery network.
Pet Chemist also offers a discounted rate of $3.95 for Australia Post eParcel (Express Post) on orders over $99 for small packages under 0.5kg.
For packages weighing more than 0.5kg for Australia Post or 2kg for Aramex, Pet Chemist offers a discount of $6.95 on the cost of delivery. This discount is automatically applied at the checkout.
Free or discounted shipping only does not apply to special shipping orders, including Cold Shipping and orders for Compounded Medication. Cold Shipping costs between $9.95 and $19.95, depending upon the method selected. Shipping of Compounded Medication costs a flat rate of $19.95 and is sent by Australia Post eParcel (Express Post).
Shipping Refrigerated Items
Refrigerated items are sent in insulated packaging with ice gel packs. Refrigerated items are dispatched Monday to Wednesday only to ensure they reach their destination whilst still cold. We strongly recommend only sending refrigerated items to postcodes within the Australia Post Express Post next business day network.
What happens if my order is lost or damaged?
We recommend choosing shipping insurance on all forms of delivery. This will allow you to be compensated if there is any direct loss or damage arising out of the misdelivery, delayed delivery or failure to deliver the order, or any damage to the goods in delivery. If shipping insurance is not chosen, we will not be liable under any circumstances for any loss or damage, whether direct or consequential, arising from events beyond our control.
Returns of Prescription Medication
By law prescription medication cannot be re-sold after they have left the pharmacy premises. As such, refunds are not available for unused medicines once they have been supplied by the pharmacist and dispatched. Please take this into consideration when deciding on the quantity of medication to order, as orders of medication cannot be cancelled once they have been supplied by the pharmacist and dispatched.
