Zylkene Capsules are a complementary feed designed to help cats and dogs manage stressful situations. Zylkene contains a natural product derived from casein, a protein in milk, that is well known to promote the relaxation of newborns after breastfeeding. Zylkene is palatable and easy to give: simply mix with food or give the whole capsule. It can be given daily and is both preservative and lactose free.

  • Zylkene Capsules contain a palatable, water soluble powder that appeals to both dogs and cats
  • Zylkene Capsules can be given whole or can be opened and the powder mixed with food, treat or liquids
  • Water should be available at all times
  • As Zylkene is taken orally, it is present wherever the pet goes, both inside and outside the house

Since its launch Zylkene has become a familiar product for veterinarians, behaviourists, nurses and pet owners world wide. It helps pets cope when facing unusual and unpredictable situations and can be used before occasions such as a change in their normal environment.

When to use Zylkene

Zylkene can help support dogs and cats in situations where they find they need to adapt their behaviour to cope. These can include kennel and cattery stays, moving house, the arrival of a new pet or baby, sudden noises such as fireworks, travel or festivities. Many cats do not cope well in a multi-cat household, so Zylkene can help with the introduction of a new cat.

Zylkene is easy to give in one daily intake. The capsules contain a palatable, water soluble powder that appeals to both dogs and cats. They can be given whole or opened and the powder mixed with food, treats or liquids. Since Zylkene is taken orally and ingested, it is present wherever the pet goes, both inside and outside the house. Water should always be available to your pet.

Zylkene comes in three strengths:

  • Zylkene Capsules 75mg (30 capsules)
  • Zylkene Capsules 225mg (30 capsules)
  • Zylkene Capsules 450mg (30 capsules)

Dosage Guide

For short term use: Begin administration 1-2 days before the predicted event or change in environment. Some animals may need earlier administration (5-7 days).

For long term use: Start giving Zylkene for one month then reassess the pet. Association with a behaviour modification program may help in these situations.

    Zylkene Capsules

Posted by Agnes Hall on 18th Oct 2019

Since I got my cat back on the Zylkene Capsules, she has become a lot more settled. I can tell when I ordered the Zylkene too late and she has to do without for a few days!
She won't leave me though, but now will settle in the Living room, or whichever room I'm in!
Although she's only 4 tomorrow, she doesn't seem to like change anymore! With the Zylkene she is calmer and moves around! If not, she will let me know that she wants me in my room, which is also her room! She likes to sit with me! This is also because my husband has to have the sound of the TV so loud, that it's even too loud for me!
I like it now she's much calmer! And she has her time in her hiding place again for an hour or two, which she only did when strangers came to the house!

    Zylkene is Wonderful

I have a very, very timid and skittish cat that is always very frightened and nervous. Zylkene has help him reduce his nervousness, and he is now happy to come and sit on his stool with us in the lounge room and won't run when we enter the room if he is sleeping on the bed. He is still very nervous and skittish, and I don't think that will ever change but Zylkene has help reduce this to a certain extent and I am happy with the outcome.

I didn't know how long the postage would take, and thought that I had enough! This was not the case, and my cat went without for 6 days! What a difference Zylkene makes for her! I also know now that I have to order more in plenty of time, so she won't go without! She has always been a nervous cat, and any unusual noises at the front door makes her run off!
She also seems to know the cars, as she does not like my daughter!
Since Dr Iain put her back on Zylkene, she is slowly getting back to herself again! I now know that Zylkene is what she needs, and not something cheap, the Vet doesn't know about.
If your Vet gives you Zylkene, then keep using Zylkene! My cat has shown me that they are like people, have their own ways and health problems. Anxiety is something you can't always see, and the breed has something to do with it!
I never knew that tortoishells were so much different!
As long as Zylkene works, I hope that I don't have to go over to prescription medications.

    Zylkene for cats

Posted by Kathy on 16th Sep 2019

My big ragdoll boy was in boarding for nearly three weeks. He gets quite stressed when away from his home as he is an indoor cat. The zylkene worked well for him, he ate his food, he purred and settled in more easily in his boarding.

    Zylkene 450mg

I have been trying these for a few months now in the hope it will calm the anxiety in my dog. I started with one a day, no difference so moved to two capsules every morning. I still don't feel like it has made much change unfortunately. I will keep trying for a few more months but after that if she is still the same I will stop as they are expensive for not much result. I have heard they worked on other dogs with anxiety - just not mine yet.
